Guided tour of Montelupone
Situated between Macerata and the sea , Montelupone is one of the little towns in the Marche that has preserved its original shape: its walls still retain the original medieval four doorways and the roads feature the ancient stone paving.
To visit:
the fourteenth century Palazzo del Podestà ;
the nineteenth-century town hall with its neo-classical portico,
the historical Theatre Nicola Degli Angeli.
In the countryside, near the river Potenza, there is the Benedictine abbey of San Firmano.
Montelupone boasts a rural and agricultural tradition; the most typical products are the artichokes .
Sagra del carciofo, the festival centred around the local artichokes, takes place in early May.
